Super fun concert in Seattle tonight. The venue was full and the crowd was rocking from the start. David, I think, and Urs for sure commented that it was the loudest audience they'd had in the US so far. Even the orchestra seemed to be having fun!
Seb, my friends and I thought, seemed as though he didn't feel great. He didn't do his Old Man Costume tonight.
When Seb was doing his chat about his exposure to the musical theatre repertoire, he lost his place and could not think of the name "West Side Story." He was making faces and hitting himself on the side of the head as though that would jar it loose. Finally the concertmaster Simon gestured him over and Seb went over to get the name from him. Seb was cracking up and kept stopping to laugh at himself. When the guys came back out to sing "Somewhere," they kept emphasizing the word "somewhere" and looked at Seb every time, till he lost it again.
There was a little Asian girl-Il Divo fan in the third row with her family, and she had a sign about Il Divo with her name on it. Seb asked to have it passed up to the stage so he could show it to the whole theatre.
Fun, fun evening. So nice to have them back in a proper symphony hall with a great acoustic. Even Lea commented on it. The sound was great and there were no blasting speakers up front trying to blow your head off. A really good mix of voices, too. The fog machine got a little carried away, however. It was blowing quite a bit of fog into the first couple rows and making people cough. During "Music of the Night," we couldn't even see Lea and the guys at one point.
After the final song "You'll Never Walk Alone," the entire hall, balconies included, rose to their feet for a standing ovation. While we were waiting for the guys to change and come back out for the encore, there was sustained applause and a chanting of DI-VO DI-VO DI-VO.
I have pictures but won't be able to post for a few days.
А мы будем ждать обещанные фото
