отчет с оффа... от некой Т (calgaryurban)
Regale you with a tale? Well.......I don't know that there's a tale to tell. *giggle* But I can give a little concert review.
I'm sorry it's taken me 24 hours practically to get back here, but besides the concert yesterday, my friends were arriving from New Zealand and I have been rushing like a fool to get ready and renovate......it will take me a while to come down. So, the concert.....
Well, I don't know what to say about it, really. The songs and the show are the same; there was nothing much new to report there. The singing was, as always, amazing! Goosebump-ish. I tried to take notice of little odd things that were details not usually reported on. Let's see what I can remember......already its fading.
Poor Seb is still suffering from his cold, I think. He was spot on with everything, but he coughed quite regularly when it wasn't his turn to sing. And he was drinking loads of water. He messed up a bit on the teleprompter thing during the part about 'weird facts about your city'......he was really having trouble reading it. But the guys covered for him; stepping in and asked him what he was talking about and he laughed and blamed the flub on being French. It was all in good fun.
David was Mr. Comedian, as usual. There was a horribly, horribly rude red-neck man in the audience who shouted out during David's talk about the beginnings of the group and when they were trying to work out who and how they were going to be. This man shouted out.......Fake it until you make it. It was terribly brazen of him, I thought, and his tone was obvious. It wasn't intended as I joke, I didn't think. You could almost hear the audience gasp at it. (Great way to show off our city, dude, because yes, I am reporting you the Divo Army of Women with my post and they won't be happy with you. You were totally unclassy! Please know that this is not representative of the majority of people here! AT least not the classy ones!) Anyhow, it caught David off guard too he paused for a second, and then raised his head with such a look of disgust at the man that I just wanted to hug him. He said, very dryly.......yes, we've been faking it all this time. He went on with the story, but was obviously ad-libbing here and there working in remarks about the guys' rudeness and how the faked it selling millions of records or something. Good for David; carrying on and getting the upper hand from a heckler. Great strength of character but still a gentleman through it all. My respect for him really grew. Not that he didn't have it to begin with, but it went up a few more notches.
Carlos was Carlos. He always is. Laughing and joking and not missing a beat. During one of the songs he was joking with Seb; pretending to teach him to how to quirk his eyebrow and Seb was circling his temple with a forefinger and laughing.....Carlos is cuckoo. Fun banter, you know? David of course did the fake trip down the stairs; following by ballet plie's and twirls. I know it's scripted, but he does it with panache. You can't fault him for ever getting out of character; he doesn't. Just goes on with the show.

продолжение...
I was very annoyed with the audience during LVSA - they couldn't get one person to stand up and dance. Not one. No matter how David tried, they wouldn't get up. He said......I guess Calgary's not a dancing town. He was standing right in front of me while this was going on and I swear he kept looking at me; almost pleading.....please stand up. If you will, they will. (We had a lot of eye contact before this.....I did with all the guys, which was awesome! ) Anyhow, I really didn't want to be in the front row with all those people staring at me (public displays are so not my thing) but I stood up anyhow. Prentended no one was watching......you know that phrase.....dance like no one's watching. LOL. Very difficult. Anyhow, he gave me a thumbs up and a mouthed 'thank you'. And slowly a few more in the front row stood up.......so there was a handful; and darn it I stayed up and swayed through the whole song; and after about 30 seconds, I didn't care so much anymore, I was having a good time
What else? Please don't hate me Ubers, but Urs was very detached through the show. His music was spot on and his voice flawless, but he doesn't interact with the audience. Didn't say very much at all. At one point he was sitting on the steps and absently picking at a piece of rubber with his fingers.......like he was tempted to pull it off or something. He's still very thin, but a bit fuller than he was several months ago. Some of the sharpness is gone. Although, I will say at the M&G, he's very intense when you meet him. It was almost unnerving......but in a good way. He looks right into your eyes like he is trying to read your mind or something and his nose was almost touching my nose. It was really striking.....the feeling will stay with me a long time. And his voice saying my name in that lovely accent of his was divine.....and I'm not even an Uber.
It struck me, watching them so close up, how intricate and difficult the harmonies are that they sing and work up. I mean, I always knew they were, but actually watching it live (which is somehow different than the dvd's) its really very very complicated. During Senza Parole; Urs, David and Carlos are doing their thing; very large and bold and amazing; and there is Seb singing something completely different but that blends in with what the others are doing. And I thought.....how difficult it must be to remember what you're supposed to be singing when the others are doing something entirely different. But the song wouldn't be as beautiful as it is without that part Seb sings. No wonder it takes them so long to produce an album and get it perfect........i believe it's far harder than we realize to create that sound. I think I could watch the semantics of it for hours.....and still never figure it out. Its a gift; that much is sure and true.

и закл. часть...
They performed beautifully, despite what I thought was a sort of lack-lustre crowd. Very disappointed over all in that, to be honest. But there was some true die hard fans in the audience and they received several standing ovations from the entire arena; in particular for DCFMA (which was absolutely amazing) and during one other song which I just can't remember what it was........DARN IT! But the applause went on and on; longer than they even expected. I could see them exchanging glances about it; they were impressed. Hopefully it took away the bad taste of rude dude early on in the show.
I have some other stories, but they're more personal, so I'll leave them off here for now. Sorry........ but some parts are for friends only; I hope you understand. I haven't had a chance to look at my photos......been too busy; but if there are so good ones, I'll try to post them in the next few days. I didn't want miss the show for taking pictures, you know? And at the angle and height of the stage, it was hard to get good ones; but I think there are a few decent ones. STay tuned.
I hope I haven't bored you to tears; but that's the odds and ends and different angles I remember from last night. I thought it was amazing and I'll remember it for a long time. I was super excited and I don't get excited about much, so I think that says something.
Thank you Urs, David, Carlos and Seb for an incredible night and for sharing the gift of your music and voices with all of us. Danke, Thank you, Gracias, Merci.
В общем, когда Дэйв рассказывал о начале группы, один грубиян в зале крикнул "Fake it until you make it", что можно перевести как "жульничай, пока можешь".

"As promised, here is David and the Heckler. I suppose its not quite as bad as I thought or as I remembered. Things get muddled when so much is going on. David proceeded perfectly but obviously made a few comments to the 'fake it until you make it' comment. The guy was so rude. You can't hear the gasp on the video, but the audience did gasp at first. Then in true typical David fashion, he made them laugh and carried on like the showman he is."
